Being a solo developer is hard, but that doesn't mean that it has no benefits. The bright side of being a solo developer is something that I aspired to achieve when I left the corporate world for some time now.

In this blog, I'm going to show you some of the perks of being a solo developer and why I chose this path.

## Complete freedom and autonomy

When you're working as a solo developer, you have complete authority over your work.

There's no one to tell you how to do this project and complete it within a given deadline.

This quote completely describes the freedom that comes from being a solo developer.

This particular benefit was one of the driving forces that urged me to completely abandon the corporate world and do all the software development on my own terms.

It really is in my nature to do a certain project independently and not totally depend on others, so this type of path perfectly suits me and maybe yours, too.

## Work wherever and whenever you want.

Working wherever you want is something every person who has experienced being stuck in an office 24/7 wants to do.

When you're a solo developer, you can decide where to work with your laptop. You can take that work with you while having a vacation somewhere with a beach and beautiful sunsets.

You also have the freedom to decide when to work. Maybe in the evening after swimming in the pool? Or in the afternoon after hiking in the mountains.

You also decide how many hours per week you want to invest in it. Maybe just 2 or 4 hours a day? Perhaps 16 hours a week?

## A continuous stream of income for yourself

For instance, when you build a website that generates a stream of income from ads and affiliate marketing, the revenue that comes with it will go directly to you.

Perhaps a hundred bucks, or if you're lucky, thousands of dollars—that money that you've gained from all your hard work will be so sweet and full-filling. Why? Because, finally, you have earned it for yourself without depending too much on others. That's a good thing, isn't it?

## You don't have to work yourself to death.

Being a solo developer, you decide when to take a break and rest from developing projects.

You don't have to wait for approval from others to take a vacation. You have the full capacity to manage your work and rest, which is very important to avoid burnout.

It is important to have a balance between working and taking a break. That is something that solo developers have the power over.

## A full-filling and less stressful environment

Being a solo developer is so fulfilling, especially after you have read the positive feedback coming from your customers who have appreciated and greatly benefited from your product or services.

Their responses are enough to make your day, so you just keep going forward, whatever it takes.

A solo developer's job is less stressful as you decide how heavy your workload is without overwhelming yourself. You even set realistic deadlines for your projects and don't worry too much about when to complete them.

## Wrapping up

There are many advantages to being a solo developer. I only listed the perks that I have experienced firsthand.

It may take some time to experience these benefits, especially if you're just starting out, but if you persevere enough, every one of the perks stated above can be totally achieved.
